Abstract

The purpose of the study is to investigate the degree to which the Arab Reading Challenge project achieved the reading comprehension skills of students from the perspective of Arabic language teachers in the Bani Obaid District Directorate. The study followed the descriptive survey method using a questionnaire that consisted of 30 items and was distributed to a sample of 200 male and female teachers. The results showed that the arithmetic averages ranged between 3.19 and 3.29, with a medium degree of appreciation, with the level of literal comprehension ranking first, while the level of aesthetic comprehension ranked last. Furthermore, there were no significant statistical differences in the perceptions of the sample members because of gender. However, there were significant statistical differences in the perceptions of the study sample members because of educational qualification. It was also found that there were significant statistical differences in the perceptions of the study sample members because of experience, specifically between those with less than 5 years and those with more than 10 years of experience, with the differences favoring those with more than 10 years.
