Abstract

This study addresses the Iranian nuclear program and its impact on the balance of power in the Middle East from 2011 to 2022. It highlights how Iran's nuclear ambitions serve as both a military concern and a political strategy aimed at enhancing its influence in the Arab world. Understanding the political and military dimensions of Iran's nuclear program is essential for Arab countries as they navigate implications for national security and regional stability. The study analyzes the regional and international political data surrounding Iran's nuclear capabilities, shedding light on potential ramifications for the balance of power in the Eastern Mediterranean. Focusing on the reality of the Iranian balance of power relative to Arab countries, the study reveals that the Iranian nuclear program poses a significant threat to Arab regional security due to fears that it may evolve into a military endeavor bolstering Iran's influence in the Middle East. The prospect of Iran acquiring nuclear technology is expected to trigger regional competition for unconventional weapons, particularly as states, including Israel and Arab countries, respond to Iran's military advancements. In light of these findings, the study recommends intensifying efforts to establish the Middle East as a nuclear-weapon-free zone, fostering collaboration with international organizations and peacekeeping forces. The insights provided by this research are vital for understanding the shifting dynamics of power in the region and informing strategic responses to emerging security challenges.
