This study aims to identify gender equality within the United Nations' framework as one of the sustainable development objectives by examining gender representation in the Jordanian parliament as a model. The study adopts two methodologies: the descriptive-analytical approach, which described the fifth Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 5), namely gender equality, in public office. It analyzes its impact on gender representation in the Jordanian Parliament. In addition, it explores the legal approach, by reviewing the most important legal texts that addressed gender equality, including the United Nations Charter, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and Jordanian legislation. The results indicate that there has been notable interest in gender equality at both the international legislative level within the United Nations and the national legislative level of Jordan. Additionally, the findings reveal that the quota system has facilitated women’s representation in the Jordanian parliament, particularly in the House of Representatives.
