Abstract

This study aimed to identify the level of computational thinking among secondary school students in Al-Rusaifah District. A computational thinking scale was designed for this purpose. The sample of the study was randomly selected and consisted of 1,231 secondary school students from Al-Rusaifah District, representing 11.73% of the study population. The results of the study showed that the general level of computational thinking among secondary school students in Al-Rusaifah was medium. Additionally, the study revealed statistically significant differences due to gender, with females performing better in the domains of analysis and abstraction, as well as evaluation and conclusion. Statistically significant differences were also found based on the variable of owning a computer, particularly in the domains of analysis and abstraction, algorithm writing, and evaluation and conclusion, in favor of those who own a computer. Furthermore, statistically significant differences were observed based on the variable of owning a smartphone, specifically in the domains of analysis and abstraction, and evaluation and conclusion, favoring those who own a smartphone. However, no statistically significant differences were found based on the level of the school stage (first secondary or second secondary) or on the scale as a whole for any of the variables.
