Ethics and Policies

The Jordan Journal of Applied Science - Humanities Series is an open-access journal. All published articles are immediately and permanently available free of charge to read, download, share, copy, distribute, and adapt. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), provided that appropriate credit is given to the original authors. Authors retain the copyright to their work, subject to the terms of the applicable publishing agreement and license.

The Jordan Journal of Applied Science - Humanities Series charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) of USD 300 for each article accepted for publication. This fee helps cover the costs associated with the open-access publication process, including peer-review coordination, editing, and online hosting.

Introduction

The Jordan Journal of Applied Science – Humanities Series supports the publication of high-quality research and seeks to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent the publication of work meeting its scientific, ethical, and editorial standards. Authors unable to pay the Article Processing Charge (APC) may apply for a waiver or discount based on documented financial need and the criteria below.

Types of APC Support

The Journal may provide:

• 100% APC waiver

• 30% APC discount

• 20% APC discount

Eligibility

APC support (a full waiver or a partial discount) may be granted if one or more of the following circumstances apply, upon documented proof of financial need:

1. All authors contributing to the submitted paper are currently enrolled as students (e.g., Bachelor's, Master's, PhD) at the time of submission and are not holding a full-time employment contract.

2. The researchers' institutions do not provide financial incentives or reimbursement for publication fees for the submitted article.

3. The author(s) are affected by exceptional humanitarian circumstances, including armed conflict, displacement, natural disasters, or severe economic crises that make payment of the APC impracticable.

4. Members of the Journal's Editorial Board and full-time faculty members of Applied Science Private University are eligible for one (1) full APC waiver for one accepted article per calendar year, as a form of institutional support for their contributions. Any additional submissions within the same calendar year shall be subject to the Journal's standard APC or any other discount approved under this policy.

5. The author's institution has a cooperation or publishing agreement with the Journal providing for a publication discount.

6. Other exceptional cases that, in the opinion of the Journal's designated reviewer (e.g., Journal Manager/Editor-in-Chief), justify APC support based on documented evidence.

Determining the Level of Support

The Editorial Office, Journal Manager, or designated committee will determine whether a 100% waiver, 30% discount, or 20% discount is appropriate. Decisions will consider eligibility, supporting documents, financial need, and the available annual budget.

Ineligible Circumstances

Support will normally not be granted when:

• Research funding can reasonably cover publication costs.

• The corresponding author’s institution provides publication funding or APC support.

• The request is submitted after APC payment or article publication.

• Required declarations or documents are not provided.

• The request concerns charges other than the APC.

• The annual waiver and discount budget has been exhausted.

Application Procedure

The corresponding author must:

• Apply at submission or immediately after acceptance and before issuance of the final APC invoice.

• Request APC support without specifying a percentage.

• Explain the relevant financial circumstances.

• Disclose all research funding, grants, incentives, and institutional support.

• Provide evidence of unavailable funding when requested.

• Confirm that all co-authors know of and agree to the application.

Submission of a request does not guarantee approval.

Supporting Documentation

The Journal may request:

• A letter confirming that institutional APC funding or reimbursement is unavailable.

• Evidence that an APC funding request was rejected.

• Proof of student status and a declaration of non-full-time employment.

• Grant documents or evidence that research funds have been exhausted.

• Evidence of exceptional humanitarian or economic circumstances.

• A signed declaration confirming the accuracy of the submitted information.

All financial information and supporting documents will remain confidential and be used only to evaluate the application.

Evaluation and Decision

Applications will be reviewed by the Editorial Office, Journal Manager, or designated committee and confirmed by the Editor-in-Chief. Applicants will receive one of the following decisions:

• Full waiver approved

• 30% discount approved

• 20% discount approved

• Application declined

A brief explanation may be provided when appropriate.

Editorial Independence

APC-support decisions are entirely independent of editorial assessment and peer review. Reviewers and editors assessing manuscripts will not have access to waiver requests or financial information. An application will not affect editorial screening, reviewer selection, peer-review outcomes, revision requests, or final decisions. APCs are charged only after formal acceptance.

Priority

When resources are limited, priority may be given to:

1. Authors affected by conflicts, disasters, or humanitarian emergencies.

2. Papers whose authors are all students meeting the eligibility requirements.

3. Researchers without institutional reimbursement or other funding.

4. Independent researchers without institutional support.

5. Other documented cases of financial hardship.

Priority does not guarantee approval.

Conditions

• Except for the institutional benefit stated above, a corresponding author will normally receive no more than one full waiver per calendar year.

• Waivers and discounts cannot be combined; only the highest applicable benefit will apply.

• Support applies only to the approved manuscript and author list and cannot be transferred.

• Authors must promptly report changes in funding or authorship affecting eligibility.

Reconsideration

The corresponding author may request reconsideration within seven working days of receiving the decision. The request must include new information or documents unavailable during the original review. The reconsideration decision is final.

Transparency and Review

This policy will be published on the Journal’s website and reviewed periodically in light of APC levels, international economic classifications, scholarly publishing standards, available resources, and application numbers. The Journal may amend the policy, and the version effective on the manuscript submission date will apply.

Accuracy and Revocation

The corresponding author must confirm that all information is accurate and complete and disclose any material change in funding or eligibility. If inaccurate, misleading, incomplete, or undisclosed information is identified, the Journal may reject the application, revoke the support, require APC payment, or take action under its publication ethics policies.

The Jordan Journal of Applied Science - Humanities Series supports transparency and openness in scholarly communication. The Journal is committed to making citation metadata openly available in accordance with the principles of the Initiative for Open Citations (I4OC).

Our Commitment

• Open Citation Data: Citation metadata associated with articles published in the journal is made openly available whenever technically and legally possible. It may be accessed and reused by researchers, practitioners, institutions, and the public.

• Metadata Deposit: The journal deposits article metadata, including reference lists where applicable, with Crossref and other relevant indexing and abstracting services. This practice enhances content discoverability and supports bibliometric and scholarly research.

• Scholarly Connectivity: By supporting open citation practices, the journal contributes to a more transparent and interconnected scholarly ecosystem in which citations help facilitate research discovery, evaluation, verification, and collaboration.

The Jordan Journal of Applied Science - Humanities Series supports the use of Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) identifiers to improve the accurate identification and attribution of authors and their scholarly contributions.

Authors are strongly encouraged to provide a valid ORCID iD during the manuscript-submission process. Where technically possible, verified ORCID iDs will be included in the article metadata and displayed with the published article.

The inclusion of ORCID iDs helps to:

• Distinguish authors from other researchers with similar names;

• Ensure accurate attribution of scholarly contributions;

• Enhance the discoverability and visibility of authors’ publications;

• Connect authors’ publications with their professional research profiles; and

• Support an accurate and interconnected scholarly communication system.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the ORCID iD they provide is accurate and belongs to them. An ORCID iD must not be created, supplied, or used on behalf of another author without that author’s authorization.

Authors are encouraged to include their ORCID iDs when submitting a manuscript to support the journal’s standards of authorship, attribution, research integrity, and visibility.
